Serving at Hillsboro

Hillsboro encourages all of the church family to live lives of service to each other and to guests. Several regular service opportunities are available for men and women of all ages. Please contact us to learn more.

Adult Education

Sunday morning and Wednesday night Bible classes are taught by Hillsboro volunteers. Teacher volunteers rotate regularly and are asked to make short-term commitments. On Sunday mornings, all classes use the same curriculum. Curriculum support is provided for Sunday morning teachers to foster consistent learning across all the classes. On Wednesday nights, class topics rotate regularly and curriculum support is provided as needed. Please contact us if you are interested in teaching an adult class at Hillsboro.

Bridal Teas & Baby Showers

The women of Hillsboro celebrate Hillsboro Family wedding engagements and new parents with bridal teas and baby showers. Up to three teas or showers can be celebrated once a month on Sundays. Volunteer coordinators and hosts arrange the details for each event. A closet with supplies and guidelines has been set aside for these events to make coordinating a tea or shower as easy as possible. To volunteer, please see the Bridal Tea & Baby Shower binder in the mailroom on the main office hallway or call the church office.

Children’s Ministry

Several Volunteer opportunities are available for men and women of all ages in Hillsboro’s Children’s Ministry. Volunteers staff nurseries, as well as teach Bible classes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. Volunteers are asked to make short-term commitments and typically work with partners or teams. Additionally, volunteers staff several children’s events throughout the year such as the Easter Egg Hunt, VBS, Hayrides, Trunk or Treat, and Breakfast with Santa. If you are interested in volunteering with any part of our Children’s Ministry, contact Sheila Montgomery.

Fellowship Meals

Each Wednesday night at 5:30 PM, Hillsboro hosts a fellowship meal for family and guests. Each night a meal host greets and collects payments, and teams help set up and clean up. Sunday morning Bible classes rotate fellowship meal responsibilities, and a sign-up will be available in class at the designated time.

Food Teams

Hillsboro’s Food Teams are an opportunity for the men and women of Hillsboro to provide service and support during funerals, illness, and the arrival of new babies. Food Teams for funerals divide meal and hosting responsibilities at the building. Online sign-ups are distributed when needs arise for illness or to support parents of new babies. Please contact us to volunteer.

Security Ministry

Hillsboro seriously considers the safety of those who gather in the building. Each Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night, teams from Hillsboro’s Security Ministry monitor the property and the building. Please contact us if you are interested in participating in the Security Ministry.

Welcome Hillsboro

Welcome Hillsboro is Hillsboro’s hospitality ministry. Volunteers may choose to greet family and guests on Sunday mornings, be class hosts for our guests in Sunday morning Bible classes, and/or reach out to those who have newly joined the Hillsboro family. Welcome Hillsboro regularly hosts potlucks for Hillsboro 101, an introduction-to-Hillsboro class, and staffs a Welcome Center at several of Hillsboro’s community events. Please contact us to volunteer.

Worship

Several aspects of worship at Hillsboro rely on volunteers. Men may volunteer to lead prayers, read scripture, or lead thoughts during communion. Volunteers are placed on regular rotation and are notified in advance of assigned responsibilities. Please contact us to volunteer for any of these roles.
