Hillsboro Church of Christ is excited to announce that Dr. Darwin Mason, Jr., will be joining the Hillsboro Ministry Team as the full-time Preaching Minister, effective August 2023.

Through an extensive process led by the Hillsboro Elders and the Preaching Minister Search Committee, Dr. Mason proved to be uniquely qualified in education, experience, and biblical understanding to help Hillsboro live out the church’s vision and mission. As he begins to take on regular preaching and teaching responsibilities at Hillsboro’s worship services, Dr. Mason will also begin to coordinate Hillsboro’s ministries and staff toward strategic solutions that will progress Hillsboro’s vision and mission, including ways to engage the congregation in evangelism and outreach in the greater Nashville community.

Please join us in welcoming Darwin, wife Kayla, daughter Deryn, and son Levi to the Hillsboro family.

Letter from Darwin

Hillsboro Church Family,

It is an incredible blessing to accompany you on this journey of fulfilling God’s desires. Kayla, Deryn, Levi, and I are overjoyed to be a part of this ministry. Firstly, I want to thank you and the Shepherds for helping me realize a God-given and God-purposed mission. Over the next few weeks and months, we hope to express that PURPOSE more clearly. The Mason Jr. family is poised and ready to begin this next leg of Kingdom work. I am immensely grateful to God for His calling.

Now, you may have concerns about how my presence here affects the people and the community I left behind. The impact is substantial. Schrader Lane Church of Christ poured into me and provided the knowledge I possess today. I am thankful for the leaders who nurtured me and afforded me the opportunity to grow under their guidance. The people at Schrader Lane have a profound influence on the Kingdom of God.

With that in mind, I am confident that the same God who has guided me will also guide all those who are committed to His will. My wife and children are angels because they trust in God and believe in the calling He has placed upon my life. While it is not their calling, I am acutely aware that they play a vital role in my calling. I kindly request that you love and care for them, as they already hold deep affection for you.

We have important work to accomplish! Our mission cannot be achieved by a group of individuals striving to please God separately. It can only be accomplished by a community of interdependent people who pray together, live together, and work together. The potential of what we can achieve when we commit ourselves to God’s mission is beyond our imagination. We will SERVE (Hebrews 13:6) one another and the local and global community by meeting their needs. We will INSPIRE (Hebrews 10:24-25) seven generations of people here at Hillsboro to develop a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God and a more authentic connection with one another. We will be better EQUIPPED (Hebrews 13:21) to please our Heavenly Father by diligently studying His Word, and this study will enable us to SHARE (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 17:26) with the world in a manner that brings glory to our Lord and God. We are the people of God, and together, let us strive to please Him! Are you ready? We certainly are! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Blessings,

Darwin, Kayla, Deryn, and Levi Mason
