Join us at Five Star Retreat as we spend time resting our minds and bodies, growing relationships with our sisters in Christ, and renewing our hearts and minds before returning to daily life.


Rita Cochrane

We are thrilled to have Rita Cochrane with us this year as our keynote speaker.

Rita Cochrane is a native of Nashville and attended Lipscomb first grade through university. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael. They have three adult children and six grandsons. Rita taught at Lipscomb Academy Middle School for 23 years. She retired from teaching to work for three years at Healing Hands International.

She currently serves as the Director of Women’s Ministry at the Church of Christ in Green Hills where her husband serves as elder. Mike and Rita are currently guardians to two teen siblings from Bangladesh. Rita spends her free time being Nana to her grandsons, teaching ladies’ classes, teaching a class at DC4 (the drug court division of Davidson County Women’s prison), power-walking, and traveling the world.


$70 - Friday and Saturday.

Saturday morning @ 7:00 am. Start the day with a focused conversation with God. Join Rachel Gould for a time of personal reflection and prayer. 


This year the fabulous Carrie DuBorg will be joining us again for a painting workshop. Carrie will walk us step-by-step through painting our own individual treasure. Everyone will be able to take home their finished painting as a memento from the weekend. You may also choose to donate your painting to TPOM, who will be using them to decorate their transitional houses. All materials are provided. We encourage you to enjoy the grounds at Five Star Retreat. Join Beth Miller for a gentle hike or take a stroll solo to unwind. Time is available after Saturday breakfast and during Saturday afteroon's Open Activites. Tennis shoes or hiking boots recommended


Friday Dinner: Soup & Salad.

Saturday Breakfast: Sausage & Egg Casserole with fruit and breakfast breads.

Saturday Lunch: Build-Your-Own Sandwiches & Salads with chicken salad, pimento cheese & more.

Snacks: Please bring a sweet or salty snack to share!

Drinks: Water, iced tea & coffee. If you prefer a favorite soft drink, please plan to bring it with you. Space will be available for you to store it.

If you have special dietary needs, refrigerators will be available for any additional food you would like to bring. Gluten-free options will be available at every meal. 


Mindful Movement is no longer available. We apologize for the last-minute change! If you had signed up for Mindful Movement or were hoping to, please consider joining the Early Bird Prayer & Devotional time in the morning or the gentle hike in the afternoon. Thank you for understanding!


This year we are partnering with our Needlework Outreach Ministry to knit hats! Hillsboro's Needlework Ministry has sent hats throughout the world, and we are excited that we get a chance to learn to loom knit and help this ministry. No prior expereince needed. Instructions and assistance will be provided


Ever heard of speed dating? We'll be speed friending! Don't miss this fun game where everyone will get a few minutes for a quick one-on-one, get-to-know-you conversation with other retreat attendees. Fun and silly questions will be provided for you to break the ice and get started. But talk quickly, because when time is up, you're on to the next friend! 


Hear how some of our Hillsboro sisters live out and wrestle with resting, relating, and renewing in their own lives. A time for questions and discussion will be available at the end of the session. 


What is the cost? $70 - Friday and Saturday. $45 - Saturday Only.

What is included in the cost? Cost includes dinner Friday, breakfast & lunch on Saturday. Use of the Five Start Retreat Lodge and grounds. Two keynote sessions. Service and craft breakout session materials. Other assorted retreat materials.  

How long does it last? You may check in starting at 4:30 pm on Friday afternoon. The retreat events will start later on Friday night and go through Saturday afternoon. We encourage you to stay after our Praise & Worship Wrap Up to enjoy the facility and the grounds at Five Start Retreat. Some actitives will be available for you or you may simply hang out with friends or take time for personal prayer, reading, and Bible study.

How do I get there? Please use these instructions from Five Star Retreat. They strongly recommend that you do not solely rely on GPS. Travel time is about an hour from church. Times will vary based on your location.

Where will I sleep? We will be using the accomodations inside the amazing Lodge at Five Start Retreat. Beds are available on a first come basis. What should I bring? An open mind and an open heart. Your Bible. Comfortable, casual clothes and toiletries for 2 days. Games. A sweet or salty snack to share. All linens and towels are provided.
