NURSERIES at 10:00 AM

  • Unstaffed nurseries will be available for families during worship.

WEDNESDAY at 6:45 PM

  • For all ages, Kyle Story will continue his excellent story of Jonah.

Our message to guests and members of our church family remains to be:

  • If you are not feeling well, please stay home and worship online (see detailed guidelines below.)
  • If you have been around anyone who is sick, please stay home and worship online (see guidelines below.)
  • Whether you worship with us in-person or online, we count you as a valuable part of our Hillsboro family.
  • To join our Live Stream worship service, please go to www.hillsboro.org.

DETAILED GUIDELINES — Important reminders about when one should notattend services or activities. For the health of our church family, please observe these guidelines. If they apply to you, please do not return to worship until the recommended time has passed.

If you feel ill, have any symptoms of Covid or have tested positive for Covid within the previous 10 days, please do not attend worship services or church gatherings.
  • Isolation – Current CDC guidance says that if one tests positive for Covid, they should isolate for 10 days from the start of symptoms or from the date of the test, whichever is earlier. That person should not return to services or activities until after those 10 days are up or until they have been at least 24 hours symptom-free, whichever is later (other than loss of taste or smell, which is a symptom that may last longer).
  • Quarantine – Current CDC guidance says that if one is unvaccinated and in the presence of a Covid positive person for more than 15 minutes in the 48 hours before they had symptoms or tested positive, then that person should quarantine for 10-14 days. That person should not return to worship or activities until those 10-14 days are over and he/she is still Covid/symptom free.

We hope to see you when you feel comfortable to attend. We realize some are unable to join us in-person at this time or uncomfortable returning under current conditions. We understand, we love each of you, we respect your decisions, and we continue to recognize you as a valuable part of our church community.

Summer activities are coming to an end, family travel is subsiding, school has been going for at least two weeks, Covid cases within Hillsboro have decreased over the past three weeks (and are currently minimal) and the vaccine is widely available. Occasional Covid cases may still pop up around us, but we believe circumstances are now such that we will be able to navigate such times safely and that we are able to move forward toward our long-term gathering and activity goals. We will continue to pray, watch and work for the sake of our church family and the community around us, and we are appreciative of so many of you who are doing the same.

Please continue to stay connected via the ways provided. If we may serve you in any way, please reach out to us by phone at 615-665-0014 or by email: elders@hillsboro.org.

Thank you to all,

The Hillsboro Elders

August 12, 2021

Hillsboro Family,

After monitoring the situation at Hillsboro, in particular, and in our community, in general, we have decided on the following. This plan will be in place for the rest of August. We will evaluate the conditions around us over the next three weeks and make a decision about September toward the end of this month.

This Sunday, August 15, at 10:00 AM, and for the rest of August we will resume Sunday morning worship service with the following modifications:

  • We will not have Bible study before worship service.
  • We will not have staffed nurseries and we will not host Children’s Worship during our worship service.
  • We are asking all of our members for the rest of the month of August to wear masks while in the building and to observe distancing while in the building. We will have every other row roped off as we did last summer.
    • This is for increased safety while Covid cases are again rising and also for the sake of those members who might want to attend but who would have some heightened concern based on the current conditions.
    • A mask should be worn by anyone starting kindergarten this Fall and older.
  • We will continue to offer our service live-streamed and the link to our Children’s Worship video will continue to be sent out weekly. You may join our live stream at: http://hillsboro.org
  • We will continue to make communion supplies available in the container underneath the main portico. If you are unable to make it to the building, please contact the church office (615-665-0014) and someone will bring them to you.
On Wednesday nights for the rest of August, we will have one adult Bible study class only beginning at 6:45 PM along with the following modifications:
  • We will not have a Wednesday evening Fellowship Meal.
  • We will not have staffed nurseries and we will have no Bible classes on Wednesday night except one adult class.
  • We are asking all of our members for the rest of the month of August to wear masks while in the building and to observe distancing while in the building. We will space rows and seats in the adult class.
    • This is for increased safety while Covid cases are again rising and also for the sake of those members who might want to attend but who would have some heightened concern based on the current conditions.
    • A mask should be worn by anyone starting kindergarten this Fall and above.
  • We will continue to email out a weekly devotional on Wednesdays throughout the month of August.

Our prayer before our meeting was that we would be guided toward the wisest course of action for our church family at this time. We understand that there is no one answer that will satisfy everyone right now. We appreciate your continued prayers for and gracious responses to the decisions being made. Whether everyone has 100% agreed with every decision or not, we are also especially thankful for so many of you who have continued to demonstrate your respect and love for your brothers, sisters and neighbors who may have differing viewpoints or concerns right now – both around our times of worship and throughout the rest of the week, too.

As we also shared last week, here are a few important reminders about when one should not attend services or activities. For the health of our church family, please observe these guidelines. If they apply to you, please do not return to worship until the recommended time has passed.

  • If you feel ill, have any symptoms of Covid or have tested positive for Covid within the previous 10 days, please do not attend worship services or church gatherings.

Finally, we hope to see as many here soon who are able to attend. However, we understand some are unable to attend at this particular time or may not feel comfortable doing so while conditions remain as they are. We want you to know that we understand and that we love each of you and we continue to recognize you as a valuable part of our church community. We hope you will continue to stay connected via the various ways provided and we hope that if we may serve you in any way, you will please reach out to us by phone at 615-665-0014 or by email: elders@hillsboro.org.

Thank you to all,

The Hillsboro Elders

August 6, 2021

Based on the current spread of Covid cases within our church family and in an effort to allow some time and distance to help avoid further spread of the virus, we have made the decision to not host in-person services this coming Sunday (August 8) and Wednesday (next week, August 11). We will evaluate the situation next week and make decisions about resumption of in-person meetings at that time.

Currently, there are several different families that we know of at Hillsboro who have members with Covid. There may very well be others who are Covid positive of whom we are currently unaware. Some of these people were at VBS last week, some were at church on Sunday and some were at both. Positive cases are up all over the middle Tennessee area, as well. We also understand that with school starting back for many, that may present a further opportunity for spreading. All those factors in mind, it seems the wise course of action to take a break from meeting in-person this coming Sunday and Wednesday in hopes of slowing the infection among our group and to allow us to resume meeting once the risk of spread is diminished.

We do want to continue to bring our church family together this Sunday via online worship at 10:00 AM, online Children’s worship on Sunday and a Wednesday devotional time, too. So please be on the lookout for the links on Sunday morning and Wednesday for the different online options. On Sunday, you may also go to http://hillsboro.org  and you will find the links to the worship service on our home page.

If you need them, there will be communion supplies outside the building under the main portico this Friday and Saturday. You may drive by and get them at any time. If you need them, but are unable to get there to get them, please call the church office at 615-665-0014 or email Paul Nance (pnance@hillsboro.org) and someone will bring them to you.

May 14, 2021

November 1, 2020

Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that there is a season for everything. This past spring and summer was a season of disruption, a season of hardship, and a season of change. But our church family at Hillsboro persevered through those months, and continues to do so. We are thankful that our ministry leaders and volunteers found creative ways to stay connected virtually in the beginning and that as the summer continued, we were able to return to worship at the building and to resume some of in-person activities for the Hillsboro Youth Group and Children’s Ministry.

As the fall continues and the holiday season begins, we wanted to give you a brief update of some other good things that have been happening here at Hillsboro and to let you know of some more good things that will be coming in the next few months.

At the end of October, we were able to fulfill the final payment for our Vision of Faith campaign, and the Hillsboro building is now completely paid for. We are thankful for everyone’s participation in this campaign over the past years, and we are excited to see what new plans God has for that portion of our budget.

We are also excited to welcome Alexander McMeen as Hillsboro’s University Minister. Alexander has been working with our 412 Ministry for many years and will continue working in an official capacity with Hillsboro’s university students and post-graduates.

As of November 1, several opportunities have been added to our weekly calendar. Ladies’ Bible class has resumed. An adult in-person Wednesday night Bible study is now available. Children’s Worship has resumed on Sunday mornings. Plus, Adult Bible Classes, Life Groups, Children’s Bible Classes, the Youth Group, and 412 Ministry are still finding creative ways to connect each week through a variety of in-person and virtual options.

We are also thankful that Hillsboro’s Global Missions work has continued through opportunities such as the Mission India giving campaign, and Hillsboro’s Local Missions work has continued through our partnerships with Healing Hands International, Nashville Inner City Ministry, ThriftSmart, and others.

It brings us such joy to see God’s love still spreading throughout the ministries and family at Hillsboro, and we will continue to embrace and evaluate upcoming opportunities for ministry and gathering in the coming months. We are currently working with ministry leaders and volunteers to establish clear and helpful guidelines for events.  Our Family & Children’s Ministry teams are working on plans for a socially distanced Visit with Santa in December. We are also evaluating the Children’s Bible Classes and Adult Classes in the coming months, the best ways to welcome the growing number of those who are joining us on Sunday mornings, and more.

We know that everyone is eager to return to some sense of normalcy, but we also know that this season of change and adjustments in our habits is not yet over. And so, we will continue thoughtfully toward more church family gatherings. We ask for your continued support and patience as we begin to add more opportunities to our church calendar and as our ministry leaders and volunteers continue to work tirelessly to organize these events. For the time being, we will continue to maintain the current building guidelines that includes social distancing and wearing masks or face coverings. (Please see the June 15th update below for more specific details about the building guidelines.) And we will be working toward how to best use our building and grounds here at Hillsboro for all our ministries as we enter the winter season and look toward spring.

We are very thankful for the hardworking, ethustistic, and caring Hillsboro Family. We ask that you continue to pray for the Elders, the ministries, and the church family. We know that the Lord has a plan for each of us, and we’ll continue to work for Him in His kingdom.

June 15, 2020

First, we are incredibly thankful for each of you. These last few weeks have tested all of us in ways we could not have foreseen, and it has been immensely uplifting to watch you still be the church, still be light and love to your communities, and still live to share the good news each and every day.

We are excited to begin re-gathering at the building for In-Person Worship on Sunday, June 21, at 10:00 am, in addition to continuing our Live Stream Worship. With certain social distancing practices in place, we are glad to be able to once again offer the opportunity to gather at the church building.

While this is an exciting next step for Hillsboro, if you are in any of the at-risk groups for COVID-19 or if you have recently not been well, we still encourage you to worship safely at home via Live Stream Worship. The health and safety of the entire Hillsboro Family is our top priority. We know Live Stream Worship will continue to be the best choice for many, and we are still pursuing innovative ways to keep our entire church family engaged and connected.

Here’s what to expect in the coming weeks:

  1. Sunday Morning Worship Only. For the foreseeable future, we will only be gathering at the building for Sunday Morning Worship, and we will continue to offer Live Stream Worship.
  2. In-Person Sunday Bible Class, Sunday Night Worship, and Wednesday Night Bible Class & Activities Determined Later. We know everyone is anxious to fully return to all regular worship and activity times; however, we will not resume these additional regularly scheduled in-person gatherings at this time. Later in the summer, the Elders and Re-Entry Committee will gauge again the current situation and guidelines in place and will reassess Hillsboro’s plan for additional gathering times.
  3. Small Group Activities. Beginning June 6, we started allowing small group gatherings of 25-50 people at the building on a limited basis. Hillsboro Kids and the Hillsboro Youth Group have already been able to take advantage of this renewed gathering opportunity. We know that several in the church family have also already had spontaneous gatherings in the past few weeks, and we encourage everyone to continue considering appropriate small group opportunities for Life Groups and other smaller ministry-related gatherings. All small groups must contact the office to reserve an outdoor or indoor space, and we ask that all groups act responsibly, remain in their designated areas, and closely follow all social distancing practices. Specific safety and building-use guidelines will be updated regularly with our ministry teams and program leaders as they plan these activities.
  4. Social Distancing Practices for In-Person Worship. As we have already shared, several new social distancing practices will be implemented during our Sunday Morning In-Person Worship. Please click the button below to review all social distancing practices before you join us. We sincerely ask every person to follow all social distancing practices at all times while in the building to help keep our entire church family healthy and safe. We will be constantly reviewing the social distancing guidelines recommended by the CDC, state, and Davidson County, and will continue to revise our practices if and when possible.

In Matthew 22, Jesus teaches us that the greatest commandment is first to love God with all your heart, soul and mind, and second to love your neighbor as yourself. We are confident in the love the Hillsboro Family has for God, and we are also confident in the love the Hillsboro Family has for each other. We never thought loving our neighbor would mean staying 6 feet away from each other or greeting with only smiles and hand waves or constantly washing hands or wearing masks, but today, it does. And we are thankful that the Hillsboro Family has the grace, patience, and sacrificial love that means we can do impossible things in the face of adversity.

SUNDAY WORSHIP REMINDERS

  • Everyone will wear masks. Masks will be provided at each entrance if you do not have your own.
  • The following entrances will be open on Sundays: East Portico, Main Portico, Hillsboro Road Foyer Entrance, and Front Foyer Entrance.
  • Greeters will be at each entrance to welcome and guide everyone.
  • Greeters (with gloves on) will be distributing individual communion packets at the doors.
  • In the auditorium, every other pew is taped off.
    • We ask families and those who live in the same household to sit together to maximize space.
    • Please allow for proper distancing between family units and others.
  • Everyone is asked to exit the facility upon completion of the service, allowing any visiting and fellowship to occur outside in the open air.

Thank you for being patient and for following the new gathering practices!

May 31, 2020

In II Timothy, Paul writes to Timothy from prison, and Paul explains that although he is bound in chains, the word of God is not bound (II Timothy 2:9). And so, the Elders would like to thank you, the church at Hillsboro, for continuing to be the body of Christ, even in these bound times. No, we’re not in chains, but during the safer-at-home orders that make us feel like we’re isolated from each other, you not only have continued to show love for members of this congregation, but also have represented Christ in your communities.

We wanted to update you on some of the planning the Elders have been doing over the last few months since the coronavirus became a part of our lives. During these months, the Elders have continued their regular meetings to pray, to plan and to consider how best to honor Christ at this place we know and love. As part of that planning, the Elders have set up a committee of some of the Elders as well as several from our ministry team to keep up with developments at the federal, state, and local levels. This committee has been considering what is best for Hillsboro in terms of how we meet together and how we respond to the events that have taken place.

We are excited to announce that as part of that planning process, we have decided to start gathering at the building again, starting Sunday, June 21. More details about this process will be shared in the coming days as plans and logistics are finalized. Also, we will continue the Sunday morning live stream service as part of our regular worship opportunities. We’re excited to get back to some sense of normalcy, and we look forward to June 21. Thank you for your support and prayers during this process, and we hope that you will continue to be the body of Christ in your communities during these times.

May 3, 2020

We wanted to bring you a brief update from our Elders on where we are with the events that have disrupted our lives this spring. There have been a lot of plans made, including phasing plans by the Governor and the Mayor, to give us some guidance on what our near-term future may be. Timing of those phases is still open, and we’re unsure when they will begin, so for the time being we will remain flexible and hopeful.

Our Elders will spend the month of May assessing all the information that we currently have and that we receive from our government officials and from others to try to determine how and when we may be able to transition back to using our building for in-person worship and other activities.

We ask that you continue to pray for Hillsboro, our Elders, and our ministry teams and for the work that’s still ongoing. We ask you to pray for our members who may be struggling through these unprecedented times. And we ask you to keep providing encouragement and assistance to our church family, your individual family, and your neighbors.

For the month of May, we will continue to operate as we have been these past weeks, providing live stream worship services and updates via email and social media. Thank you for your continued patience as we look toward the weeks ahead.

March 24, 2020

As we monitor the regulations determined by the spread of COVID-19, our Elders and ministry teams will continue to provide meaningful opportunities to connect through online gatherings and social media. For the foreseeable future, we plan to worship together online, as a church family, each Sunday at 10:00 am. We are very thankful for the community of Hillsboro, and we believe that God is able to use this unpredictable season of life as a way to strengthen the body of believers.

We understand that these moments can create a feeling of isolation, but we hope that you are able to reach out to others as you feel the desire for community. We encourage everyone to find time in your day to call, text, or simply write a letter to someone. We also encourage Bible classes, Life Groups and other age groups to digitally connect and catch up on life together. Until the CDC and local health officials have lifted the regulations on meeting together, our regular meeting times and building usage will remain closed until further notice. Thank you for your support of these decisions, and please continue to pray for our communities, our city, and the world to keep God first through this moment of time.
