Living It Dare #6

This past week I received a wonderful note from a family who decided to take on the “Cookie” Dare. The father and mother took special care to include their daughter in making Easter cookies for the neighborhood. Mom and daughter delivered cookies to families and individuals they had never met. They had the grandest time as surprised neighbors were very appreciative of the “random act of kindness.” It blessed the neighbors; but more importantly, it blessed the family. They had a great time. Way to go!
Living It Dare #6 is to buy burgers for the homeless. I know this will stretch most of us beyond our comfort zone. It won’t be easy, but I can tell you that the reward will far outweigh any anxiety.
Here is the plan: Go by your favorite fast-food hamburger joint and purchase six to twelve of their small cheeseburgers. After school (best time), or on a Saturday, go to the Downtown Public Library and sit outside in the park. As you do, you will notice homeless individuals who use this park as a place to meet and rest. (It is a safe area with many enjoying the park.) Strike up a conversation with one of the homeless individuals and ask them if they would like a burger. You will be amazed that in no time you will have met some of the nicest men and women in Nashville. Your sandwich will be a joy to them and your heart will be overwhelmed. It won’t take long before all the burgers are gone and you will wonder why you did not purchase more.
Love you all,
James
